After
experimenting with various types of contests, I came up with the wild
idea of taking the train from Union Station in Washington, DC to
Boston, Massachusettes. The point was how to get through as many
grid squares as possible, to get the most multipliers. It was a
great plan, but didn't go quite as easily as I thought. Oh and we
only used FM mode on 2 meters and 70 centimeters. Hernan, N3OKP,
my partner in the event wrote and submitted an article to World Radio
Magazine and it was published in September 1997 (see link below).
In the future, I do plan on trying this again. This time with SSB radios and a more clever way of setting up the antennas.
