is my favorite mode of the VHF contest, but before this contest I
always went solo (not including Amtrak Mobile Rover). I just find
it easier to make decisions, and frankly it's hard to find a good
person to contest with. In June 1999 however, I paired up with
John Harrison, N3JH, (KB3DPI in 1999). We used his minivan,
installed a 2 meter on top, a couple of magnet mounts. The
contest when pretty well, so I thought. John said while he
enjoyed doing it, the VHF contest and rovering was just not his
thing, and he wouldn't be duplicating the effort. I was disappointed, but at least our one effort came out well. |
